The first photo of this house can be easily misleading: glass walls, minimalist kitchen and trendy modern furniture seem to reassure in no uncertain terms that the house is brand new and was built very recently. But in other rooms, a classic fireplace, moldings on the walls, a mirror in a golden frame are already appearing – things that clearly indicate a connection between the building and the past. And indeed, it is a historic 100 year old mansion in Brussels, which has simply undergone a modern reconstruction with an extension (hence the glass walls) and now looks very fashionable and fresh. This is exactly the case when modernity took its toll, leaving the classics with a very small piece of the pie. But it’s beautiful! 🙂
